The Drive to End Prostate Cancer

Well, it has been quite a while since I posted a blog and the completion of last years One Lap for Life - Tire Rack Cannonball One Lap of America. What has not stopped though, is the continuing march of men being diagnosed with and lost to prostate cancer. That is why we are again preparing for the 2009 One Lap of America and raising donations in support of ZERO - The Project to End Prostate Cancer (http://www.zerocancer.org/), formerly the National Prostate Cancer Coalition.

This years campaign is the One Lap for Life / Drive to End Prostate Cancer. Why the addition to the One Lap for Life? It is an obvious play on words as we have organized a golf tournament at Westwood Country Club in Vienna, VA in conjunction with the One Lap event. We have many sponsors involved with the golf event and a great tournament title sponsor in Patella Woodworking. The tournament event date is Monday, April 27 and there are still several openings available for sponsors and participants. Hopefully we can fill them in support of this very important cause in men's health.

We are also planning to have the car at several events around the Washington DC metro area where individuals can put their own personalized ZERO sticker on the One Lap car for a donation. This will be a great way to get people involved and raise awareness. Please stay tuned to the One Lap for Life blog for updates on these events.

I will also be posting updates as we move closer to the golf tournament and the start of the One Lap of America. We have a test and tune date with the car (same BMW 335i) at Summit Point Raceway on April 8th. In regards to a test and tune for the golf tournament, there is no hope for us, so we have opted to stay home on weekends and leave the golf to the "pros". So again, please check the blog site for updates. In fact, there is a "Subscribe for Updates" link on the blog that will allow you to receive e-mail notifications of any updates. Just sign up, it's easy and I promise you'll love the stories.
